“Thicker Than Paint," an award-winning documentary by acclaimed Iranian-American filmmaker Maryam Sepehri. This compelling film delves into the private life of Habibeh, a self-taught Iranian artist who has created over 4,000 artworks using unique tools and techniques born from necessity and imagination. Habibeh’s journey is one of transformation—turning personal adversity into breathtaking creativity. Through her craft, she finds solace, healing, and a powerful voice in a world that has often silenced her. "This deeply intimate portrait of an Iranian woman's life documents the life of Habibeh Bedayat, a self-taught painter who has created over 4000 works of art. Scenes of Habibeh conducting her everyday life allow us a fascinating glimpse into the philosophies of a strongly independent wife, mother, teacher, and artist. As we learn more about her upbringing in Pre-Revolution Iran, we come to understand exactly how much Habibeh has sacrificed in order to become the free-willed person she is today"
